I don't like the massive amount of gray hair, I'm also glad to have hair! It's scary knowing how fast time finds us out, sort of sneaks up on us. Anyway, I thought it would be fun and helpful to others not to be so inhibited to color your hair. Hope you pick up a few "pointers" from the video.

    Nope that's 1/4 inch TS Jack. RCA is the smaller pin with shield around it also known as a phono plug because it was most commonly used with record players. Hay it's a close up at 5:15 on the left is the auxiliary input that is an RCA jack on the right is the microphone jack that is a quarter inch jack. But I love the bright orange cable.

    This machine, (and most 16mm ones) has optical sound. Sound focus allows the beam of light passing through the optical track to focus exactly at the track and give better sound reproduction. I have the exact same machine: it is built like a piece of construction equipment and will outlast us all!

    That’s not an internal speaker, it’s a ventilation grill. You should have familiarized yourself with this projector BEFORE you made the video presentation.

    The Pageant 250 Series (i.e. E,S,M,ARC) were the last 16mm Projectors built in house by Eastman Kodak in Rochester,N.Y. Kodak then contracted with Elmo after the end of the 70's and sold their 16CL Model as the KODAK Ektagraphic CT1000 16 mm projector. The Japan built 16mm projector had nothing in common with any other previous built Kodascope,Pageant 16mm projector other than having Kodak Badgeing. The 250S was essentially the Old AV256TR Projector that used Tungsten Halogen Lamp (DDB 750W) and updated with a 200-watt, 24-volt, ANSI Code EJL Lamp System 200-hour rating at low lamp setting, 100-hour rating at medium lamp setting, and 25-hour rating at high lamp setting. This accomplished by(aprox 12mins in) The Rube Goldberg Switch they installed in the Lamp house and cheap rinky dink spring across the back of the EJL Lamp that requires removing the Cover and using a Slot type Screwdriver for the 3 position Switch. This should have given a 250 buyer indication that Kodak was near the end of Mfging 16mm projectors They just removed the old lamp Chimney and Reflector. If the Light Switch had been mounted somewhere on the outside with a professional looking knob then I would have thought they would still be making Projectors for at least a few more years. Kodak 16mm Projectors going way back have always had a good reputation for reliability, easy on Film, reasonably quiet projection. Actually a quite remarkable film steadiness despite only using a 2 claw pulldown from beginning up to the last 250 series. I have quite a few Kodak 16mm Projectors in my Collection. Although no comparison to the Professional Theater Model Kodaks (Eastman 25/30/40) or Telecine Models (250/275/285) which were handbuilt by seasoned Kodak Engineers and incorporated a Geneva type Intermittent (aka 35mm) i still rate the Kodascope - Pageant Projectors as some of the best Audio Visual Projectors you could buy ...

    Hi Al !! I loved watching your video. It would be great to meet and screen some films. I recently purchased a 250S (the third I've owned). It's my favorite projector other that a Singer Instload and an Elmo (although the rubber rollers melt). Great description of the features. A couple of notes, though. The Sound Reader lever (which is my favorite feature of the 250S) is to be used after you set the bass and treble knob. You then raise or lower the Sound Reader lever to fine tune the sound. The black knob sticking up on top is the framer; rotate it until the full picture is projected. You seem to have a different speaker jack than mine, although I have seen that one before. One word of caution, DON'T use the pull down tab to rewind film. I ruined my two previous 250S projectors that way. Get yourself a set of rewinds. The knob on the right side front is used to tighten the film. I hope that you use a test (junk) film first to see if the unit still correctly operates. Are you planning update videos? I'd like to see the unit in action.

    Also, if you don’t know the function of some of the controls on this projector, you’ve made this video without being properly prepared and that makes for a mediocre presentation.

      Your correct Alex, like you said, "that's a matter of opinion". 330,000,000 people just in the USA all have there own opinions, they all see the world differenty! My purpose for the presentation was to find a good home for the projector and "that it did", everyone was happy.

      @@mral543543 I have a specimen of the Kodak Pageant projector that you demonstrated. I bought it in 1980 brand new for around a thousand dollars. I’ve had to have the amplifier repaired once, and nothing else. It still works perfectly. The only problem is that since the video revolution, any sixteen millimeter projector is a relic of the past, and nothing more than a curiosity to the young generation, sort of like a picture tube TV set.

    • @mral543543
      @mral543543 Рік тому

      Hi Alex, you are absolutly correct, I have more 16mm stuff and only a few have interest in it. It cost more to ship an item than what the item is worth. Even the video revolution has passed the VHS and DVD equipment, I have much of past family memories on VHS, Digital 8, 8mm sound, and 16mm that has been sitting long enough that it is becoming destroyed because of the elements, I've be doing my best to convert the VHS and digital 8 cassetts to computer files. Big job and no family left that gives a dam about them. Sad ...

      That's fine Alex, thanks for the comments. I really didn't know anything about how to work the projector, I actually was learning while making the video. By the time I had the video finnished is when I figured it out, so I corrected myself when I was editing the video. It's fun learning and just doing it with a little common scence.
